COLD FINISH: This body of work includes five different compositions, each with its own unique finish. Within each composition are various types of objects / forms, ranging from wheel-thrown vessels, manipulated extrusions, altered slabs, and curated scraps. The five different finishes on the work reflect a nonconventional approach in the traditional ceramic process. Instead of glazing and firing again, the work is finished in a cold state with different types of spray paint. Through the compositional arraignments, each object has been attributed the same importance in my mind. I want the finish to be the focus, deleting any sense of hierarchy of objects as they meld together into one unit in their groupings.
